Special Projects
Overview: The concept of project forwarding can be simply described as the management of the movement of goods and materials in non-standard packages by non-standard methods to or from non-standard destinations. These projects may include the re-location of mining equipment, heavy machinery, or ongoing projects such as Aid Programs. Project cargo is, by definition, time-sensitive, as vast sums may be put at risk should materials arrive late, incomplete, or damaged at their ultimate destination.
Our team can structure and schedule shipping to and from Australia and between international locations to meet your requirements. ASP Global can plan movement by NVOCC vessels or airlines for containerized cargo and break bulk or charter both sea and airline carriers for your individual requirements. With access to international shipping charters for both air and sea, customs authorities, ports, and airports, ASP Global will provide you with a structured program from inception to delivery, ensuring your project cargo arrives to your satisfaction – safely, cost-effectively, and efficiently.

Example:
ASP Global provided logistic solutions to unload and discharge equipment for road building from Suai to Betano for oil production by supplying a 160T crane with midstream unload at Dili port from the mother ship. No ports were available, and the final discharge was arranged via construction of a beachhead at Suai.
- Tug and Barge Lease: ASP leases tugs as the draft at Dili port is too shallow for the arriving mother ship. The transit time to the destination is 36 hours via tug and barge and LCT.
- Transporting Cement Mixers: ASP is responsible for transporting cement mixers, including skels and trailers, as the road from Dili to Suai is only suitable for rigid fixed axle vehicles as opposed to articulated ones. The distance covered was 130 km, but the travel time was 10 hours.
- Barge Transport: Arranging a barge to transport vehicles, including 40 trailers and a side-loader for unloading at Raikaten river camp, which is 15 km from Suai.
